Just before 08:00 hours, freezing rain hit the York/Lancaster area leaving dozens
of accidents. During the rainfall, 41 took in six of these incidents, 3
of them in the first due. The day started off at 07:48 with an accident with entrapment on Route 462 near Macks Ice Cream. Rescues 1, 2 and the Command responded in one minute with a crew of 9. Chief 21 arrived on the scene confirming double entrapment. Engine 21 (Hallam) began cribbing and extrication. Rescue 2 arrived and removed two drivers doors from each vehicle. Personnel assisted in patient care and removal. While on the entrapment call, the 41-02 box was struck for a vehicle into the structure on the 200 Block of Hellam Street in Wrightsville at 07:50. Lancaster Engine 81 (Columbia#1) handled the incident, with no injuries. The box was available shortly after. After clearing the vehicle into the structure, Engine 81 was redirected to an unknown injury accident and overturned on Rt. 462 and Stricklers La. There were no injuries and this box was available soon after as well. At 08:25, while enroute to assist 21/41 units on the accidents York Rescue 38 (Yorkana) was involved in a T-bone crash at 9th & Hellam Street in the borough. Rescue 42 was on the scene, Passenger vehicle vs. Firetruck with no injuries. Rescue 41-2 arrived shortly after and relieved 42 equipment. Around 09:00 Engine 81 and Command 41 responded to Ducktown & Picking Roads in Hellam Township for an injury accident. Lt. 41-1 and AC 41 arrived on scene with two vehicles, 1 class three patient. 41/81 crews assisted in clean up of debris and put the box available in 34 minutes. To end the day, the Rescue Company was dispatched to assist Hellam with an unknown injury crash 462/Freysville Roads in Hellam Township. Rescue 2 went enroute in one minute. While responding Engine 21 arrived on the scene and advised York that no fire services were needed. |
