At 16:49 Box #2123 was struck for a vehicle fire on Route 30, near the Penn Dot shed
in Hellam Township. Engine/Rescue 1 responded in one minute with a crew
of 13. Upon arrival of R-1 there was no fire, but a small Daschund was
found in the wheel well. The pooch had climbed in the wheel well when the
truck was parked on Cool Springs Rd. The driver of the truck heard the dog yelping, and began to smell something burning. 21/41 crews removed the wheel to gain access to the dog. The dog was treated by R-1 crew while enroute to meet an animal enforcement officer who then took it to a local animal hospital. Later in the evening, fliers were found around the borough for the missing dog, and the owner was contacted. The dog is expected to make a full recovery. A story is in the works for show on WGAL February 7th. |
