By Fireman Eric Oberdorff
February 25, 2017

This afternoon the York area was hit hard with severe weather. Company 41 handled over 50 emergencies in a few short hours, including a working barn fire in Lower Windsor Township. The department had all 3 pieces of apparatus staffed and on the street.

Tomorrow, the National Weather Service sent a crew to survey the damage with department members and local EMA officials. It was determined that straight line winds caused an EF-1 tornado to form in the eastern end of Hellam Township, traveling east into Wrightsville Boro. The tornado left behind a 4 mile path of destruction. It has been reported that over 60 structures suffered damage. Although there was significant damage, no injuries were reported.

The department would like to thank all those who donated food/supplies to the membership who had a very busy 48 hours! Your support is very much appreciated
