Basement Fire and Pile-Up On Route 30

At 0700, Engine 41 was dispatched to the 800 Blk of Purple Ln in Columbia for a house fire. Engine 41 arrived on scene to a working basement fire. Engine 41 personnel pulled the front bumper line through the alpha side door and down the basement steps. upon arrival in the basement, Engine 41 crew was notified that the fire was contained to a dehumidifier, and a crew from Columbia Borough Fire Department extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. At that point, Engine 41's crew assisted with overhaul and salvage. Rescue 41-1's crew supplemented Engine 41's crew with salvage and overhaul as well.

Crews were on the scene of this previous call when a multi vehicle accident occurred on Route 30 within visible distance of the fire. Rescue 41-1 responded to the crash in place of Rescue 80. Rescue 41-1 arrived to find a 7 vehicle accident with 2 patients injured. Crew de energized all the vehicles and controlled fluids that were leaking. EMS 700 had patient care of the 2 patients until the arrival of EMS. Once patients were transported, rescue 41-1 was placed available.
