Residential Building Fire in the 300 blk of Walnut St.

At 1753, Station 41 and surrounding fire departments were alerted for a Structure Fire High Risk. Engine 41 and Chief 41 (Chief Livelsberger) went enroute at 1754. Additional provided was smoke coming from an apartment building. Chief 41 arrived and reported a 3 story apartment building, smoke showing, appears to be a fire on the 1st floor. Engine 41 secured a water supply at 4th and Walnut Street, laid supply to the residence, and stretched 2 200' preconnected attack lines. Engine 41 crew led by Deputy 41 (Russ) entered the building and found a smoldering fire in a couch in apartment 1 with a heavy smoke condition throughout. Rescue 41 arrived and secured a water supply to side C of the building. Rescue 41 stretched a back up line to side B. Chief 41-1(E Livelsberger) led rescue 41's crew interior and was assigned primary search of the building. Residents in apartment 2 and 3 on the 2nd and 3rd floors were alerted of the fire and evacuated via the interior and exterior stairs. No injuries were reported. The fire was extinguished with minimal water and the couch was removed to the exterior of the building. Building was laddered by Truck 80 (Columbia) and ventilation established via a positive pressure fan on side B. All other units were to report to manpower staging. Ventilation was continued until all the smoke was removed from the building. The box was held to 41,21, and Truck 80. Investigation was completed by Chief and Deputy 41 until it was determined that the state fire marshal should be contacted. Box was then held to Engine 41 until the fire marshal could complete his investigation.
