It is with deep regret the Wrightsville Steam Fire Engine & Hose Company No. 1 announce the passing of Active Fireman and Life Member Michael “Nuke” Newcomer.
Nuke was a dedicated public servant, who embodied the spirit of the Wrightsville Fire Department. He was one of the most dedicated individuals that you could find and was tremendously loyal to the Wrightsville Fire Department.

Just after 2231 hours, Rescue 41-1 (W/3) and Assistant Chief 41 assisted Southern Area Fire on a house fire in Locust Grove. Chief 13 arrived and reported smoke showing from the basement of a single family dwelling. Rescue 41-1 arrived as the third due special service and established the RIT. Shortly after arrival, the crew was split to complete searches and check for fire extension on the first floor.

Just before 1300 hours, Rescue 41-1 (W/5), Assistant Chief 41, and Fire Chief 41 responded to assist New Bridgeville Fire on a house fire with reported entrapment. Rescue 41-1 arrived as the second due special service, completed primary searches, opened up for the engine companies, and ventilated the roof. Engine 41, Rescue 41-1, Rescue 41-2, and Fire Chief 41 assisted Hellam Fire Company 21, on a Barn Fire in the 600 block of Hillview Road. Engine 41 arrived shortly after Engine 21-2 and operated as the second due engine. rescue 41-1 established a second fill site, while Rescue 41-2 and Fire Chief 41 assisted with various tasks on the fire ground.
