One year ago today, the Wrightsville Steam Fire Engine & Hose Company No. 1 endured the tragic loss of Fire Police Lieutenant Curtis E. Nordsick in the line of duty.

Lieutenant Nordsick fell ill during a break while operating at a traffic control detail assisting the Wrightsville Borough Police Department. Lieutenant Nordsick is the 2nd volunteer in department’s 129-year history, to have died in the line of duty. Lieutenant Nordsick began his volunteer fire service career in October of 1967 and was also the grandfather of current Fire Chief, Chad Livelsberger. He selflessly served many communities as a fire police officer for the department and was also very active our chicken barbecues as well as other department fundraisers and events. Lieutenant Nordsick was a pleasure to have around and was loved by all who knew him.

Please take an opportunity today to think about Lieutenant Nordsick and all of those who have died while protecting the citizens of their communities.

We will never forget!
