At 0608 hours, after returning from an early morning smoke in a basement call, Company 41 and multiple other departments were alerted for a residential structure fire on the 500 Block of Boathouse Road in Lower Windsor. Engine 41 (Capt. Poole) went en route with 8 personnel shortly after dispatch. Engine 41 arrived on location with a working fire, and multiple exposures. Chief 41 (Livelsberger) arrived and assumed Command. The crew from Engine 41 split, with two attack lines to focus on protecting the houses on either side of the fire building. Two personnel from Company 41 forced entry into the Northern exposure building and found one subject who was unaware that the side of her house was on fire. Personnel from Companies 41/44 entered the sub division of the main fire building and did a quick search of the basement which proved to be negative. (Structure was deemed vacant) Engine 38 arrived on location, and supplied the Engine, while Rescue 41-1 pulled lines on the Long Level Road side of the structure to assist in fire attack. With collapses, and building conditions deteriorating, Command gave orders for exterior operations only. Truck 42 was set up for master stream operations until hand lines were brought in for extensive overhaul. Crews remained on scene for about 6 hours until going available.
