On April 8th, just after 2100 hours, members staffing the station were alerted by a resident banging on the bay door to report a medical emergency

Crews went out to the front pad to check what was going on and observed a subject with severe difficulty breathing. During the assessment, the patient went into cardiac arrest. Crews immediately began giving CPR, other life saving measures, and requested a cardiac arrest to be dispatched. In addition to the members staffing the station, multiple members responded from home to assist with resuscitation efforts. The members along with Hellam Township Police, and Life Lion EMS did get pulses back. The patient went on to make a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital a few days later.
Last night at the monthly Wrightsville Borough meeting, the members involved with this incident were given “Clinical Save Commendation”. This award is given when your direct actions result in the save or preservation of a human life. Wrightsville Fire Department had six members receive this award.
