| Included in this impromptu training was the review of our updated “Natural Gas Emergencies” SOG, led by Captain McCarty. This SOG allows our personnel and mutual aid units to understand and have a pre determined plan for apparatus positioning, actions that need performed, and other pertinent items when responding to these types of emergencies. Having and following these SOG’s allows incidents to be run smoothly and efficiently. Crews also covered emergencies involving CSST lines, which is a line that feeds natural gas to all types of buildings. This portion of the training was led by Assistant Fire Chief Poole, who discussed the risks of these lines (specifically after lightening strikes) and 2 line of duty deaths which were a result of fires caused by these lines.
Crews have answered 4 calls for service for the day, 1 of which was a working house fire.
