What is a QRS? QRS stands for Quick Response Service and it provides seriously injured or ill individuals with trained emergency medical providers to provide medical treatment at a moments notice. This generally occurs prior to the arrival of an ambulance. Rescue 41-1 and Rescue 41-2 are both certified through the Pennsylvania Department of Health meeting the equipment and personnel training standards for a QRS unit. A QRS unit provides similar care to that of an ambulance, but does not transport patients.

Our providers meet requirements set forth by the department of health and participate in training exercises to keep their skills proficient and maintain their certification.

The Wrightsville Fire Department QRS is dispatched by York County 9-1-1 along with an ambulance and medic and responds to all Class 1 EMS calls within Wrightsville Borough.  It also responds to incidents in the same areas regardless of the medical class when the following occurs; The 1st due BLS unit fails to respond, or the next due BLS unit is dispatched for the incident.

*Class 1 calls are the most severe medical emergencies including but not limited to instances of cardiac arrest, chest pain, stroke, breathing problems, severe traumas, etc.

Who We Respond With...
QRS 41 responds along with Ambulance/MICU 41 (Penn State EMS)  which is stationed in Hellam Township.
