•10-5-08 - Two Pinned and A Working Fire• |
While making dinner at the 41 House, the Wrightsville pagers activated for an auto
accident with entrapment on the 30 Strip 1/2 a mile from the state shed. Rescues 1, 2 and Command 41 went enroute with 17 in just two minutes. Rescue 41-2 arrived on scene, reporting one vehicle down the embankment w/ double entrapment and a camper trailer on its side. R-2 crew began vehicle stabilization and started the extrication. Hellam and Wrightsville crews began removing the roof and doors to free the patients. Crews from 8-1 stood by in suppression mode for safety. ____________________________________________________________________ Just after the extrication was completed, the RIT team was diverted to Cool Creek road near KRB machinery for a working structure fire. Rescue 1 left the scene of the accident with a crew of 9. Deputy 42 arrived on the scene with a fully involved garage with exposure to a house. Rescue 41-1 was approaching and was advised to take the driveway leading to the garage and house, and split crews for RIT and fire suppression. The suppression crews mission soon changed when fire was detected in the loft area of the home. Two volunteers from 41 took a line off of Rescue Engine 41 and began an interior fire-fight. Two other "Men In Black" began the search for an exotic bird inside the home. The bird was found and quickly brought to safety. The fire was contained to the "B" Bravo side of the loft due to great coordination and teamwork. |
