As members were playing basketball outside of the Station, York County 911 advised
all stations of incoming severe weather with possible tornadic activity. 5 minutes later, high winds, rain, and hail slammed the Station as 17 members stood by in Station. __________________________________________________________ The first call of service for Station 41 was received at 16:24 for a transformer explosion in Hallam Borough. Chief 21 requested the Rescue out of 41 for multiple incidents in Hallam Borough including poles and wires down, and a roof off of a structure. Rescue 1 responded in less than a minute with a staffing of 8. Rescue Company 41 assisted in crowd control, and containing an oil leak from a downed transformer. While operating at this call, Rescue 1 responded to other incidents as well, and returned back as they were completed. __________________________________________________________ At 16:41 the 41-03 box was dropped for a tree and wires on fire onto a structure. Rescue, Engine and Command 41 responded in one minute along with other mutual aide units. Chief 41 arrived to find a tree on a house with wires arching. The box was held to Engine 41 and Truck 8-1. Crews then waited for Met-Ed to arrive. __________________________________________________________ At 17:41 the 41-04 box was dispatched for wires and a tree on fire next to a structure on Ridgeway Drive. 41 dumped the house along with Engine 8-1 who was standing by in the 41 house. Chief 41-1 advised the home owner to keep an eye on the problem. No units were available to take care of the wires. York was given a pole number and the box was available. __________________________________________________________ At 19:30 Engine 41 responded to a public service on 200 block of Maple Street. Units arrived to find a hole in a roof of a structure. Crews used a ladder to gain access to the roof and tarped a hole on the house. Box was available in just over a half an hour. __________________________________________________________ At 22:42 the 41-04 box was struck for a Residential Chimney Fire on Laurel Drive in Hellam Township. Rescue, Engine and Command responded in two minutes with 10. County advised of a fire in the basement, homeowner sprayed the fire with his hose but wasn't sure if it was out. Engine 41 crew accessed the basement to find no remaining fire. Flu pipe was about 450 Degrees. Crew took the pipe apart while the crew from Tower 8-1 swept the chimney from above. After debris was removed from the flu, the box was placed available. __________________________________________________________ The final run of the night occured just after pulling in the station from the Chimney fire. Rescue 41-1 was dispatched to assist Hellam with wires on fire on Stricklers School road at Laurel Drive in Hellam Township. Rescue 41-2 responded in place of Rescue 1 with a crew of 4 in one minute. Rescue 2 cleared the incident in less than a half an hour. |
