•4.14.06: Rescue 1 Takes In Fuel Spill On Route 30•
By Scott Livelsberger, Firefighter
Just after 0500hrs Friday morning, Station 41 was dispatched for a Fuel Spill on Rt. 30, in the westbound lane at the Wrightsville Exit. Rescue 41 responded w/5, and upon their arrival found a tractor trailer pulled off the side of the highway that lost its saddle tank with an active leak. The crew quickly contained the leak and soaked up what fuel they could. Haz-Mat 91 was called for a non-emergency response, and DEP was notified of the incident, due to the fuel soaking into the ground. Rescue Co. 41 remained on scene for about an hour and a half until the clean up crew arrived and then the 41 box was available.
