At 1520 hours, an alarm was put out for a house fire in the 500 block
of Cherry Street. Personnel responding to the station were advising of
a working fire and Chief 41/York 911 were advised and the working fire dispatch
was made. Engine 41 was enroute with a crew of 6 with the Rescue-Engine
behind with 3. Engine 41 layed 600 foot of 5 inch supply and arrived on scene
with heavy fire from all floors of a two and a half story split-level duplex.
Crews immediately put two 1 3/4" lines in service to knock the fire and
protect exposures. The wagon pipe and Truck 8-1 were put in service to
assist in getting the fire knocked. After the knock, crews went interior
and four additional lines were put in service with the Rescue-Engine also getting
a water supply. Fire was out at 1619 hours. Rescue 41-2 also made
the assignment. Great job by all companies working! The fire was held to the house of origin with very minimal damage to the adjoining and adjacent structures. A huge thank you to all of those in the community that assisted with supplying and handing out water! |
