At approx. 0552 hours, the rescue local assignment was transmitted for
the vehicle accident with people trapped on Route 30 in Hellam Township. Rescue
Engine 41, Rescue 41-2 and Deputy Chief 41 (Command 41) responded on the run
with ten volunteers. Other units on the assignment included Engine Company 21,
EMS units, Lancaster Rescue 7-9, and Lancaster Engine 8-1. Deputy 41 arrived
on scene and found a two-vehicle collision with a total of 7 patients, some lying
on the ground. There was no entrapment. Volunteers from Wrightsville
41 arrived and immediately began patient care efforts, as Engine Company 8-1
arrived and assisted with vehicle depowerment and provided a protection
handline. All crews on scene assisted with patient packaging and cleanup
of debris from the roadway. Rescue Company 41 returned to service within
an hour and a half. |
