•7-25-06 - Working Barn Fire in the Township •
At about 05:30 Tuesday morning, York County Control received multiple calls reporting a barn fire along U.S. Route 30 in the area of the Accomac Road overpass.  Station 41 was dispatched to assist the 21 brothers (Hellam) with the barn assignment on the 21-15 box.  The Engine Company went enroute with 8 and Chief 41-1 (Livelsberger) in the seat in 2 minutes.  Car 1 and Rescue 2 went enroute soon after.  Deputy 41 arrived on scene with a fully involved barn with fire endangering an apartment building.  Chief 41-1 and his crew went to work immediately to protect the exposure from the flames and heat.  LC Engine 792 had the tanker fill site at Wolf's Pond on Lincoln Highway in the 41 first due.  Truck 16 and the Tower from LC 81 went into operation along with multiple handlines and portable monitors to knock the blaze.  After the fire was marked under control, crews went into a heavy overhaul process with the truck companies still in the air.  Sadly, 4 racing horses perished in the fire.  After all was said and done, Company 41 was working for over 7 hours and all in-service 41 units were fully staffed with a total of 24 personnel.

Great Job by All the Company's On and Off the Fireground for Their Quick Response and Great Team Work!

A Special Thanks Goes to Station 42 and LC 7-15 for the Engine and Rescue Company Transfers.
