Twenty-four minutes after midnight, Station 41 was summoned to respond to the 700
Block of South Front Street in Wrightsville Borough at the County Line Quarry
for the industrial rescue. Rescue 1 responded two minutes later with a crew
of four. YCC gave R-41 an update of a first-hand call, caller stating
that he was trapped inside the rock crusher hanging upside down by his foot.
Upon the update; Deputy 41 requested a 2nd Rescue out of 41, and Rescues 42,
and 79 (Maytown). Engine 21 (Hallam) was dispatched for the LZ at the lower
ballfields in the borough. |
Rescue 41 arrived 1st, confirming 1 patient had fallen 10-15 ft. from his hanging
position, and falling in and out of consciousness. Crew shut down power
to the facility, and Lt. Russ was lowered to assess the patient through the rock
chute while crews below began digging through a couple of feet of rock to gain
entry to an access panel. Once the panel was opened, a Medic entered the
tight space to begin an extensive assessment of the patient and find the best
route of egress for the patient. The patient was packaged on a reeves litter
and lifted out of the chute by 41 crews and handed over to EMS 41, and Medic
102 at 00:57 and was then transported by Life Flight 1 to York Hospital.
